HBC career and technical students had an amazing and educational experience today at Cherapa Apex in Sioux Falls. Students met with several project teams and superintendents working at the "Cherapa" site. This consists of the 6th Street Bridge project which involved over 330,000 pounds of rebar and over 1,000 yards of concrete, for the City of Sioux Falls (SFC Civil project) as well as Cherapa 2, 3, and 4 (Journey Construction) which is mixed use business, commercial and residential. All together it's about a $220 million project involving multiple different building types. Great experience for students who are interested in the trades. #Patriotbuilders
Twelve fifth and sixth grade students faced off in our district spelling bee this morning. The following students made the top five and competed in the final "live" rounds, Makaylie Voss, Penni Moore, Arya Tollefson, Henry Selle and Sam Aanning.
After several back-and-fourth rounds with Makaylie, Arya earned the spot as the first place speller. The top five move on to represent H-BC at the regional spelling bee in Luverne on April 6.

A BIG congratulations to HBC Junior Lexxus Wessels on earning one of the Youth Tour trips to Washington D.C. this June! Lexxus participated in Sioux Valley Energy’s EmPOWER Youth Leadership program this school year which gives EmPOWER students the exclusive opportunity to apply for Youth Tour. Sioux Valley sponsors two students to attend each year, one from Minnesota and one from South Dakota. Lexxus will travel with several other students from across Minnesota and the United States and tour national monuments, learn about our government and cooperative philosophy.
